The Swedish Neutron Week 2021

We are sad to a announce that the Swedish Neutron Week 2020 has been postponed once again due to the corona virus.
New dates will be:

May 3-6, 2021
The industry day will be May 5.
Career day will be May 5-6.
The event is jointly arranged by SNSS, SwedNess, and Linköping University.

The scope of the Neutron Week is to enhance and identify different actors, and needs, in the neutron scattering area either having interest in method development and/or as users promoting communication and joint actions between the scientific community, facilities, industries, and funding agencies. By encouraging interactions between universities, industries, and facilities, the efficient use and coordination of resources, can be enhanced.

Presentation of neutron instrumentation efforts and possibilities to investigate materials targeted for applications in for example, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, next generation energy technologies, including batteries, fuel cells, and thermoelectric, as well as the capabilities offered by the Swedish large-scale facilities, ESS and MAX IV, will be highlighted.

An Industry Day will be dedicated for industrial applications of neutron techniques. Through success stories by industry representatives we present the industry with advantageous possibilities that lie in the use of neutron scattering. In addition, SwedNess PhD-students and mentors in this field present their research and possible applications with an industrial perspective. ESS and RISE are present with representatives.

The Neutron Week will end with a Career Day, which is tailored for PhD students that are soon about to defend or that just finished their projects. The goal is to give you important tools and practical advice on how to plan the next step in your career. This will include guidance for both the academic as well as the industry route. We will share our own experiences, give you hands-on tips on available postdoc grants, job application, CV writing and funding applications, etc. The career day will also include a few inspirational talks and personal advice from established individuals in both academia and industry with diverse experiences e.g. “Academic Career and the 2-body problem” and “Industry or Academia, pros and cons”, etc. There will be plenty of time for asking questions or personal advice. We believe that this will be a very valuable day for all of you and highly recommend you all to register.

Special Request: To help us in the practical planning of the accommodation we kindly ask you to register as soon as possible. This will be very much appreciated and will also ensure that we utilize our available funding in the most efficient way.

The Neutron Week is open to everyone who is part or wish to be part of the Swedish neutron community!
