My background is primarily within the field of soft matter and colloid science and I obtained my B.Sc. in Chemistry and my M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from Lund University. As a part of my M.Sc. diploma work I investigated the dynamics and interactions of the protein lactoferrin, primarily by utilizing various scattering techniques.

My project in SwedNess is a collaboration between the divisions of Material Physics and Polymer Chemistry at Uppsala University. In this project, the effect of oxidation on the structure of membranes, will be investigated by studying model systems. The model systems are made up by lipid mono/bilayers to which proteins may be attached. Oxidative degradation of these lipids release small organic molecules which may have adverse effects on function and structure of both membranes and membrane-bound proteins. The project aims at understanding what changes the model system experience due to oxidation. Further insight into what happens at a lipid interface under oxidative stress helps the understanding of several inflammatory processes.
